Catechism of the Catholic Church 158 "Faith seeks understanding:  it is intrinsic to faith that a believer desires to know better the One in whom he has put his faith, and to understand better what He has revealed; a more penetrating knowledge will, in turn, call forth a greater faith, increasingly set afire by love." 

As we grow and mature into spiritual adulthood, it's important to strive to deepen our knowledge of the Faith so that we may love God evermore with our whole heart, soul, and mind.   By knowing the faith, we also prepare ourselves to share and defend the Faith; an important skill with the times in which we live.
